Late last year I started experimenting with volume rendering in Unity3D. It's been a long time coming but today I'm happy to release kode80 Clouds into the wild!
kode80 Clouds is a realtime volumetric cloud rendering solution for Unity3D, offering fully dynamic, animated, 3D cloudscapes along with a custom editor for painting clouds directly into your scene. All properties; from cloud density and shape to sun and ambient lighting can be adjusted in realtime. Cloud coverage and type are controlled by a special coverage texture which can also be updated in realtime, opening the door for custom cloud animations and weather systems.
Rather than selling kode80 Clouds in the Unity3D Asset Store, I've decided to try something different. The project is hosted on GitHub & is free to use for non-commercial purposes.
If you'd like to use kode80 Clouds for commercial purposes, or support this & future kode80 development, commercial licenses are available for purchase from my new online store!
Bypassing the Asset Store allows me to offer kode80 Clouds under separate commercial & non-commercial licenses, spend time on development rather than bureaucracy & keep development open & public.
